In the Forward of A Wolf Among Wolves, Joey, the son, finds a shoe box of memories in the attic belonging to his father, Adam, who went jogging and never returned or was found.
The box is dropped and the contents spill on the floor.
Starting with Chapter 1, the story is pieced together in the order Joey goes through the spilled contents of images and writing which cover a range of topics, including mental health, substance abuse, recovery, marital issues, religion, corporate abuse, migrants, and time travel.
Beyond this, considering its non-linearity, the story is extremely hard to summarize due to its lack of cohesiveness that often induces more questions than answers.
Even taking into account this is a work of non-linear fiction, there must be enough relationship between the chapter/vignettes for the reader to fill in the missing information.
Unfortunately the relationship is not always present, imparting the impression the book is constructed from segments of different stories, or that the author is attempting to cover too many topics with too little material to provide the cohesiveness even a non-linear story line requires.
Although I find the concept the author is attempting of interest, I cannot recommend this book.
